Testosterone use in women shows no adverse effect on the breast.Reference: J. Sex. Med. 2009 Jul; 6(7):1850-6

A study of 631 women treated with testosterone for low libido between 1989 and 2007 showed testosterone use did not increase the likelihood of breast cancer. The study was conducted by researchers at the Dept. of Medicine, Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and was published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine in July 2009. The results endorse the findings of other recently published studies that demonstrate the safety of testosterone use in women with regards to breast health. In this study the mean age of the women at first exposure to testosterone therapy was 49.1 +/- 8.2 years, median treatment duration, 1.3 years, and mean follow-up of 6.7 +/- 4.6 years, providing 4,015 woman-years of follow-up. The authors concluded that “testosterone use was not associated with a significant increase in breast cancer risk.”

Editor’s Note: A large number of the women who participated in this study used AndroFeme^® 1% testosterone cream as their testosterone treatment. Lawley Pharmaceuticals and Hormone Solutions had no involvement with the data analysis, findings or the conclusions of the authors.

HORMONE SOLUTIONS NEWSLETTER #3

Welcome to our third and final newsletter for 2009. For Lawley Pharmaceuticals and Hormone Solutions it has been a year of great achievement in spite of difficult economic circumstances both in Australia and around the world.

At the time of writing this letter the Hormone Solutions sales team is preparing to travel to the USA for the A4M World AntiAging and Biomedical Research Conference being held in Las Vegas from Dec 9th-12th at the Mandalay Bay Hotel. We will be exhibiting to over 4000 doctors and allied health professionals. It is our first foray to an international medical conference and a wonderful opportunity to both educate and be educated.

We have recently completed relocating to our newly renovated office/warehouse facility. While moving is always associated with a degree of disruption we were acutely aware that the 48 hour turnaround in the shipping of orders remained uninterrupted – all staff did a tremdous job in making the transition as trouble free as possible.

We have also finalized the new designs for the upgrading of all the products . The new box and tube designs will replace the current stock and will be available in March 2010. The new dose applicator (long overdue because of production problems) will also be included in the new packaging. We have made some small adjustments to the formulation of all the testosterone products to meet Australian regulatory requirements. These changes are minor and the efficacy of the products is unaffected.

With Christmas and the New Year fast approaching the staff and I wish everyone a Happy Christmas and peaceful 2010.

NEW PRODUCT: Natragen^® - natural estrogen cream.

Hormone Solutions is pleased to announce the addition of a new product to our range for release in the first half of 2010.

Natragen^® estradiol cream completes our range of bio-identical hormonal creams for women. The hormonal balance of all women depends upon the hormones estrogen, progesterone and testosterone – Natragen^® now completes the trio of natural hormone products (joining ProFeme^® and AndroFeme^®) in the Hormone Solutions / Lawley Pharmaceuticals range for women.

Natragen is expected to be available in March 2010.

NEW Dose measuring applicator finally a reality!!

The long overdue new dose measuring applicator will be introduced with the new tube and packaging in early March 2010. Due to numerous design, technical and tooling problems it is now clear for production to proceed. When the new applicator is launched the accuracy of dosing can be assured. The applicator is a syringe design and the new tubes have been modified so that the applicator fits comfortably into the neck of the tube to allow for ease of measuring. Full instruction for use will be included in new packaging and a demonstration video will be available on the website when introduced.
